Product Cooling Systems can be divided broadly in two categories:
A) Air Cooling System or Direct Contact Cooling :
In air cooling system the industrial hot feed material comes on contact with the cooling medium which is air. Depending upon the form of the material any of the following types of coolers can be considered.
- Cascade Drum Cooler
- Rotary Louvre Drum Cooler
- Belt Cooler
- Flash Cooler

The important advantage of this class of coolers is that there is no requirement of secondary cooling requirements viz. cooling towers etc.

B) Indirect Contact Cooling :
In this type of coolers the material does not come in contact with thecooling medium. Examples of this type of coolers are.
- Tubular Coolers
- Paddle Coolers
- Jacketted Drum Coolers

These coolers feature very compact installations.
